Urban Decay Cosmetics Just Held A Funeral For Its Most Popular Palette EVER!

Urban Decay Naked Palette sale is now over, ladies. Have you paid your respects yet?

Dearly beloved, we are all gathered here today to lay to rest our favourite, most coveted and perhaps the best-selling eyeshadow palette we ever owned: Urban Decay Naked Palette. Yes, you read that right! The Urban Decay Naked Palette sale is being discontinued.

The OG nude palette that was launched in 2010 will no longer be available for retail sales come August-end. The brand released an official statement on August 23, confirming the same.

They announced that after eight years and sale of over 30 million palettes and $1 billion in revenues Urban Decay saying goodbye to it for good.

Urban Decay Naked Palette Sale Is Now Over

Founding partner of Urban Decay, Wende Zomnir shared in a press release, “Saying goodbye to Naked is extremely bittersweet,”

"It was a big moment in our history. It’s a little painful to leave your past behind, but it’s also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss Naked, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in Naked’s memory and honor—just wait and see,” Zomnir added.

Why Girls Fell In Love With Naked Palette 

It's not difficult to say why girls instantly fell in love with this palette. It came with 12 shades ranging from warm browns to cool blues, and included matte and shimmery textures. And all the colours blended like a dream. Basically, it was the only palette you ever needed. 

Over the last eight years, sales of over $1 billion in revenue were also proof that this palette was well-loved.

In fact, it was so popular that the company decided to come out with various spin offs like Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Heat Palette, and Naked Basics. It was also more expensive that Kylie Jenner's palette (YES!).

Why Discontinue This Well-Loved Palette Then?

So why did a palette that was loved by celebrities including US Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton discontinued? 

In their release, the brand explained, "The Naked Palette has been a total game-changer and category creator, leading the palette category for the last eight years."

"It’s become a staple in everyone’s makeup collection, and we’re so proud of that. But they say if you’re going to go out, you should go out on top, so it’s time to do that. And, we need to make room for what’s next," the release added.

A Naked Palette Funeral? Who Would've Thought!

In an effort to say goodbye to this OG palette, the cosmetic brand even organised a sad-but-hillarious funeral.

Urban Decay gathered beauty industry gurus and made a video with Kandee JohnsonChristen DominiqueKaty DeGrootShayla MitchellChrisspy, and the company's brand ambassador Nicole Richie.

But ladies, don't spend too much time sniffling. You can still buy the Naked Palette from their brand site at almost 50 percent off (at S$36.98) starting August 23.

In their Instagram post the company stated, "Today, we mourn the loss of our beloved original Naked palette (emoji) Though this parting is bittersweet, you’ll still be able to get your hands on the palette anywhere Urban Decay is sold, while supplies last (sic)."

So whether you are in Singapore or the Philippines or Indonesia, you can still get your hands on this amazeballs palette before it vanishes, forever!
