Here's Why Nico Bolzico And Solenn Heussaff Spent Christmas And New Year's Apart

"We are so sure we will spend the rest of our lives together, that [being] apart for three weeks is nothing."

Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heussaff are basically the epitome of #RelationshipGoals. Their social media pages chronicle hilarious, sometimes very real moments in their relationship, and we're just grateful to be able to see the show.

Fans of the couple might have noticed that they didn't appear in each other's holiday snaps. In a recent Instagram post, Nico revealed that he hadn't seen his wife in three weeks — here's why.

Why Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heussaff are #RelationshipGoals

"Today we saw each other again after spending three weeks apart, and most important, Christmas and New Year," he wrote in an Instagram caption. "A lot of people asked us why. The truth is that we are so sure we will spend the rest of our lives together, that [being] apart for three weeks is nothing."

Nico explained that because they want to spend Christmas with their respective families in Manila and Argentina, they normally spend the holidays apart. Solenn usually flies to Argentina after Christmas, but had to stay in Manila this year because of work engagements.

"My family is in Argentina (that is also Solenn’s family now) and one condition to move away from home is that I spend Christmas there every year," he wrote. "Solenn normally spends Christmas with her family (that is also my family) and then she meets me in Argentina. This year, because of her career she had to stay and that is ok."

Today we saw each other again after spending 3 weeks apart, and most important, Christmas and New Year. A lot of people asked us why. The truth is that we are so sure we will spend the rest of our lives together, that be apart for three weeks is nothing. My family is in Argentina (that is also Solenn’s family now) and one condition to move away from home is that I spend Christmas there every year. Solenn normally spends Christmas with her family (that is also my family) and then she meets me in Argentina. This year, because of her career she had to stay and that is ok. We give each other space and we miss each other so much, that is why we enjoy our time together even more, and all that is based on hard rock-solid petrified marble stone wolverine claws back silver strength trust relationship! So, some advice from #ELBolzico: • Don’t be afraid to give each other space or to miss each other; • Let her follow their careers • Let her go out with friends; • We don’t have to be part of everything she does; • Be always supportive and proud of what she does! Don’t try to cut their wings, let them fly (also because otherwise they will probably cut your bolz). I have no credentials to give any of those advices, but this is my IG and I post whatever I want, always pre-approved but my wife, but whatever I want that is in line with her! #NoWingsNoBolz #BulliedHusbandsClub #PostApprovedByWifezilla #IsPocholaTheCutestCreatureOnEarth? ?: @allen__life

What does science say about Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heussaff's relationship dynamic?

Though Nico did say that he has no credentials at all to give relationship advice, science is on his side. Research has found that space is, indeed, key to having a happy relationship. In a long-term study conducted by psychologist Dr. Terri Orbuch, 29% of spouses in 373 married couples reported not having enough space, with more wives than husbands having this problem. 11.5% of those who reported being unhappy said so because they didn't have enough space — in comparison, only 6% said they were unhappy because of their sex lives.

"When partners have their own set of interests, friends, and time for self, that makes them happier and less bored," Orbuch tells the Sydney Morning Herald. "Time alone also gives partners time to process their thoughts, pursue hobbies and relax without responsibilities to others."

Orbuch says that women especially suffer from not having enough time for themselves.

"Even if women have jobs outside the home, they are typically more likely to be caring for children, parents, friends, and others in the family," she says. "Women are more relationship oriented and they are more likely to have more friends than men, and often are the ones planning or organising the social activities for the couple."

As Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heussaff demonstrate, giving each other space also gives couples more time to miss each other. As Nico wrote in his post:

"We give each other space and we miss each other so much, that is why we enjoy our time together even more, and all that is based on hard rock-solid petrified marble stone wolverine claws back silver strength trust relationship!"
