Meghan Markle's Birthday Dress Causes Her Major Embarrassment!
While the Meghan Markle Club Monaco dress was phenomenally graceful, it gave away more than the Duchess of Sussex may have expected
Over the weekend, Meghan Markle, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex celebrated her 37th birthday, albeit a bit differently. Instead of spending her big day privately, she chose to accompany her hubby to his best friend's wedding in Frensham in southwest London.
The couple attended the nuptials of Harry's childhood friend Charlie van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks. He was an usher at their May Royal wedding and Harry seemed to have repaid the favour.
But the spotlight was on the Duchess, who in a departure from her favourite boat-neck style, Markle wore a navy blue short-sleeved, button-down, colour-blocked Club Monaco midi dress (S$448).
She paired it with a Philip Treacy hat, black Aquazzura pumps, a black belt and Kayu clutch.
And while she looked graceful and stole the spotlight (as usual), the Duchess unfortunately suffered a slight wardrobe malfunction. The dress now touted a the Meghan Markle Club Monaco dress gave away more than she expected.
As soon as she stepped out of her car, Markle reportedly flashed her lacy bra to photographers. The Duchess was all smiles and was waving back at her onlookers when she accidentally made the fashion faux pas.
It seems that the top button of her shirt was left unbuttoned.
But as soon as she met other guests and proceeded towards the church she seemed to have quickly buttoned up. In most of her photographs post the wedding, one can see the faux pas being corrected as she walked hand-in-hand with her husband.
Even though it was a quick save for the Duchess, she still managed to steal the show.
Always well put together, Markle clearly never fails to put a wrong foot forward. Whether it is at a former royal event or a causal outing, Meghan Markle is always the best dressed. Interestingly, her confidence comes from her own comfort.
She knows who she is and where she comes from. She is not afraid of stick to her style, that is both a mixture of casual chic and royally demure.
Even for her own wedding, Markle chose to stick to what she knew best--minimal makeup and a simple silhouette.
In an interview to Glamour magazine before her wedding, Markle even revealed the secret to her fashion sense, dropping hints at what we can expect from her in the future.
"My sensibility had always been relaxed California girl style, and on any given day I was in jeans, cut-offs and flip-flops," she said.
She added that she loves toned down colours and it matches with her fashion sensibilities.
"I like monochromatic and tonal dressing and I don't generally wear prints," she shared.
As for her fashion aesthetics, Markle added that she doesn't like everything to be perfect. She advised that one needs a bit of imperfection to look phenomenal.
"I think as you get older you feel more confident and you don't need to put that much effort in - to be able to throw your hair up in that very French way doing things. If your outfit is on point, one thing has to be off for you to look perfect," she shared.
And we couldn't agree more. This is great advice, especially if you want to be a Meghan Markle in the world of Kardashians. And coming from the Duchess who has quickly become the epitome of grace, it is certainly worth noting.
