You might not have heard of Lele Pons, but she's kind of a big deal. The daughter of Miami-based architect Luis Pons Lele Pons is one of the biggest social media stars on the planet.

Lele was the most-followed and most-looped creator on Vine before it shut down in 2016. Last year, she had the most-watched Instagram stories in the world. She has over 28 million Instagram followers and is worth around US$3 million.

1. She was born in Venezuela

Born in 1996 in Caracas, Lele moved to Miami when she was 5, and grew up there.

2. She was bullied growing up.

She was awkward as a kid, and says was bullied for her accent and her nose. She later got a nose job, which she says made her feel more confident.

"I didn't have friends," she told Teen Vogue in a 2015 interview. "I went to high school and I started getting bullied because I was very weird."

"I'm not like the cool girls — I'm the other girl," she added. "The one that's basically a nerd, but proud of that."

3. She was the first Viner to surpass a BILLION views.

She started making a name for herself on Vine just before she graduated high school in 2015. After she started getting more views on Vine, things started changing for her at school.

"People from my school were respecting me more and it was really weird. Obviously I don't really care about that, but I was very happy with it and kept doing what I was doing."

After graduating from high school, she moved to LA to pursue a career in entertainment.

4. She calls herself a comedian, not a social media influencer

In this interview with Perez Hilton, she describes herself as a "physical comedian" who enjoys doing stunts and being relatable to her audience.

After Vine shut down, she moved to YouTube. There, she shoots longer skits and has over 11 million subscribers on the video streaming platform. She's known for her over-the-top, self-deprecating skits with slapstick humour that appeals to her audience of preteens and high schoolers.

5. Lele Pons is also a singer.

"I always wanted to be a singer," she said. "I was going to finish school and go to Berkeley and then Vine came out and I felt like I could finally show people my talent. I can even sing in the Vines. It's honestly changed my life. I don't know where I would be right now without it."
