Lady Gaga Breaks Off Her Engagement With Fiancé Christian Carino
The singer previously said that career success usually spelled disaster for her relationships.
In shocking news, the Oscar nominee Lady Gaga engagement to talent agent Christian Cariño is no more, and apparently, they haven't been together for a while.
"It just didn't work out. Relationships sometimes end," a source told People. "There's no long dramatic story."
Lady Gaga Engagement Is No More
Rumors of their breakup started after Lady Gaga didn't wear her ginormous pink sapphire engagement ring (worth US$400,000) at the Grammys. Cariño wasn't in attendance either, and Gaga didn't mention him during her speech. However, Cariño did attend the Golden Globes and SAG Awards with Gaga, and the two seemed cozy and very much in love.
On Valentine's Day, Lady Gaga revealed a new Star Is Born tattoo instead of posting about Cariño, captioning it: "Happy Valentine's Day. A tattoo toast to 'la vie en rose' by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose."
Not Her First Heartbreak
In the Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, the 32-year-old singer acknowledged that her personal relationships tend to suffer when her career is on a high.
“It’s a sad day when I’m doing the Super Bowl and I’m so excited to do it, but I can’t help but realize that when I sold 10 million records, I lost Matt [Williams]. I sold 30 million, I lose Luc [Carl]. I get the movie [A Star Is Born], I lose Taylor [Kinney],” she said. “It’s like a turnover.”
Gaga was previously engaged to actor Taylor Kinney. They started dating in 2011 and got engaged in 2015, but split up in July 2016.
She soon moved on to 49-year-old Cariño in early 2017, and the two got secretly engaged in November of that year. "She wasn't expecting to find love with Christian so quickly," an insider told People in October 2018. "But things just became serious very fast. Christian is a good, grounding force and understands her career."
The news of the broken Lady Gaga engagement is sad, and we hope that Mother Monster is doing fine. Lady Gaga will be performing with her Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper at the 2019 Oscars this Sunday.
