Jameela Jamil Calls Karl Lagerfeld A "Ruthless, Fat-Phobic Misogynist" On Twitter

...But hey, she's not exactly wrong.

Karl Lagerfeld passed away this week, and as is customary whenever a high-profile personality dies, celebrities have come out with words of kindness about the fashion designer. But The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil wasn't having any of it. Scroll on to read more about Jameela Jamil on Karl Lagerfeld.

Jameela Jamil On Karl Lagerfeld: Girl Served The Tea

In a tweet linking to an article titled "Stop Mourning Oppressors: Anti-Condolences For Karl Lagerfeld", Jamil called the late designer a "ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist", saying that it wasn't right that he was being honored like a saint.

"Talented for sure, but not the best person," she wrote.

Model Cara Delevigne responded to Jameela Jamil on Karl Lagerfeld, writing that they should all move forward and "lead with love."

Why exactly is Karl Lagerfeld problematic?

Jamila isn't wrong about Lagerfeld. Here's just a taste of all the problematic things that he's said over the 60+ years he's worked in the fashion industry.

On plus-size models: “No one wants to see curvy women. You’ve got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying thin models are ugly. Fashion is about dreams and illusion.”

On the #MeToo movement: “If you don’t want your pants pulled about, don’t become a model! Join a nunnery, there’ll always be a place for you in the convent. They’re recruiting even!”

On Coco Chanel and feminists: "[She] was never a feminist because [she] was never ugly enough for that."

So yeah, we totally understand where Jamil is coming from. But we also understand that she must have hurt Lagerfeld's friends and colleagues (like deLevigne) who are still grieving over the loss. In a later tweet, Jamil acknowledged that she could have waited a few days to voice her opinion about Lagerfeld, but that she still stands by what she said.

Though she may have been a bit lacking in tact, Jamil's brashness and willingness to stand up for those less privileged are just some of the many reasons why we're so enamored with her. (She's also created a campaign against influencers and celebrities using their clout to damage girls' self-esteem as they shill dangerous detox teas.)

Somebody's gotta say it, right?
