11 Offensive Halloween Costumes That Will Make You Give Up On Humanity
Don't say we didn't warn you.
Halloween is the one night of the year where you can dress up as virtually anything you can conceive of. But just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Some people think that to stand out on Halloween, they have to go down the inappropriate route and dress in the most offensive costume they can conjure up. Now, there’s nothing wrong with being edgy, but as these inappropriate Halloween costumes for adults show, when you cross the line you aren’t being clever, you’re just being a dick.
Inappropriate Halloween Costumes for Adults That Shouldn’t Have Seen the Light of Day
1. Steve Irwin and a stingray
Steve Irwin was a beloved personality who was an inspiration to many, and the world is a little less bright without him. So of course, some douchebro thought it would be hilarious to poke fun at the way he died.
2. Caitlyn Jenner
Yes, this was an actual mass-produced costume that was immensely popular until the public outcry made online stores stop selling them. Whether you think Caitlyn Jenner is a hero or not, ridiculing someone’s coming out is just plain wrong.
3. Killer Dentist and Cecil the Lion
We suppose if you’re trying to dress up as a villain, the trophy-hunting dentist who killed Cecil the Lion definitely qualifies. But to be honest, this costume doesn’t make us laugh — it just bums us out. RIP Cecil.
4. Pedo Priest
Yeah, no. NO NO NO NO NO.
5. Malaysia Airlines crew
We cannot fathom how anyone can take a tragedy and turn it into a party costume.
6. Backroom Abortion Baby
The further down we go on this list, the more we want to give up on the world and crawl into bed forever and ever.
7. Suicide Bomber
Racist and insensitive to the victims! Multi-tasking!
8. Sexy Handmaid
Thankfully, this year’s most-talked-about costume was pulled from the store selling it, but we bet we’re still going to see a few girls in this ill-thought-out costume.
It’s 2018. Why is blackface still a thing? Boys and girls: if you think you need to darken your skin to wear your costume, don’t do it. Just.. don’t.
10. Rihanna and Chris Brown
Ah! Physical abuse! Hilarious!
11. The burning Twin Towers
These girls actually ended up winning the cash prize for the night’s costume contest. But karma works quickly and it wasn’t long before their distasteful antics were spread all over tabloids. Rule of thumb: unless you want to get internet famous for being a total idiot, just don’t base costumes out of tragedies, especially relatively recent ones.
12. Holocaust survivor
This ensemble was actually marketed as an Anne Frank costume before the public uproar made its sellers rename it as “WWII Refugee”. Which doesn’t really improve it by much.
13. Boston Marathon victim
This could have been a pretty awesome zombie costume but was totally ruined by the guy’s need to be edgy. Sigh.
Which of these inappropriate Halloween costumes for adults did you think was the most offensive?
