Crazy Rich Asians Turn Up The Heat At Golden Globes 2018

Sunday night had plenty of head turning moments as film and TV stars gathered in Los Angeles for the 76th annual Golden Globes 2018

Sunday night had plenty of head-turning moments as film and TV stars gathered in Los Angeles for the 76th annual Golden Globes 2018.

Held on January 6, 2019, the first major ceremony of the 2019 awards season honored the best in film and television in 2018, as decided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Dressed up to the nines, celebrities were seen in glitz and glamour, while television stars and movie stars mingled alike.

Seen as the Oscars' fun, wilder awards show sibling, the Golden Globes 2018 truly lived up to its reputation on Sunday evening, as it marked a significant milestone for Asian stars, such as Sandra Oh who won ‘Best Performance in a Television Series – Drama’ for her TV role in Killing Eve as Eve Polastri.

But the standout win that represented a landmark victory for all Asians and Asian-Americans in the industry will have to be attributed to the contemporary romantic comedy movie Crazy Rich Asians, gaining two nominations in total.

The first went to Constance Wu for her role in Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, while the other to Crazy Rich Asians Best Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical.

No doubt, Asians are slowly making their presence known in Hollywood, starting with the inspiring casts of Crazy Rich Asians.

Leading lady Michelle Yeoh brought on the jewellery, embellishing her green Shiatzy Chen outfit with a diamond necklace and De Beers earrings, along with donning a sparkly Roger Vivier clutch. It appears that she also wore the same outfit back in the 2015 Met Gala.

Yeo wore her matching emerald ring featured in Crazy Rich Asians on the red carpet too, which in the film, was a family heirloom her character Eleanor wore before giving it to her son, Nick (played by Henry Golding), to use in his proposal to Rachel (played by Constance Wu).

Look Like A Crazy Rich Asian

Even though the entire cast of the film did not appear at the Golden Globes 2018, those who did walk the red carpet were looking absolutely flawless. After sweeping two nominations for the night, they certainly won another award on the red carpet for the night.

Below are tips on how you can recreate the looks of the leading ladies to appear like you just stepped out of the Crazy Rich Asian movie set too!

  1. Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush, $29.00

Constance Wu’s classic beauty look stole the show, as she kept it understated with a soft, romantic look featuring dewy and radiant skin. She kept it clean and healthy with glowing skin, fluffy lashes, and a flushed pout to get that "woodland fairy” look. Shiseido makeup and skin care products were mostly used on Wu, specifically the brand’s Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush in shades 3 and 4 to warm up her skin and add a hint of colour.

2.  Clé De Peau Beauté's Lipstick Cashmere, $65.00

Stunning Gemma Chan pulled off a simple, elegant combo of exaggerated lashes over smoky winged shadow and a bright red lip, which happens to be Clé De Peau Beauté's Lipstick Cashmere in Legend.

3. Dior Forever Skin Glow, $52.00

Acting veteran Michelle Yeoh opted for classic Old Hollywood curls and glowing makeup using Dior products, and using the Dior Forever Skin Glow to obtain her flawless face.
