The beloved bag first made its debut in 1999 on the Dior SS10 runway under John Galliano's creative helm. But it fizzed out after a while.
However, under the direction of the current creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, it was revived for the fall-winter '18 runway. Then, its iconic, oblong shape was reworked in unexpected prints, and designers added patchwork and beads.
This is show the now iconic Dior mini saddle bag came into being.

"I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty," Grazia told the media at the time.
"I consider this icon of the house's recent history the perfect accessory to deal with the battle that is daily life,” she added while talking about the Dior mini saddle bag.

Now, if you've decided to invest in designer bags or own a few yourself, the only thing that can increase their shelf-life is proper care.
How To Care For Your Designer Bags
According to Jordan Smith of the Handbag Clinic, it starts with prevention. "Always protect your bag with a reputable protection cream/treatment. This should be done from day one and applied at least once every two to three months," he tells Cosmopolitan.
"Proper protection can prevent staining, grease penetration and can prevent all manner of issues later on," he adds.
"As well as protecting, regular cleaning, even if it is just a quick wipe-down, is a must. For a quick wipe-down, a damp cloth is enough, but typically bags will need a more thorough clean by a professional or using specialist cleaning products every 2-3 months to keep them in top condition," says Smith.
Read on to explore few other ways to care for your designer bags:
1. Wipe bag once weekly with warm water
Wipe dirt on the handbag skin with a soft damp cloth while combining a few drops of mild liquid soap to warm water.
2. Use proper cleaner
"Never use baby wipes, vinegar or any other 'home remedy' for cleaning or stain removal. Many of these products have chemicals and substances in them that can cause damage to the colour, dry the leather out, create a build up of grease in the leather and any number of other problems," according to the Handbag Clinic.
3. Treat ink marks immediately
See a professional right away in order to remove ink marks. Alternatively, another great treatment will be using a special ink removing product for leather according to the care instructions.
This ensures that the area is conditioned afterwards and left to dry completely.
