Demi Lovato Hospitalised After An Alleged Drug Overdose

Just weeks before this incident, she released the most heartbreaking song...

Demi Lovato has been hospitalised after an alleged drug overdose. According to E! News, the 25-year-old pop singer was found unconscious at around 11:40 am Los Angeles time. Emergency personnel responded immediately and treated Lovato with the anti-overdose medicine Narcan.

A representative for Lovato has told the media that her condition has stabilised. The rep told E! News:

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

Just a few weeks ago, Lovato released the single “Sober”, admitting that she had relapsed after six years of sobriety.

In the heartbreaking song, she sings:

Momma, I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore
And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor
…I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.

…And I’m sorry for the fans I lost
Who watched me fall again
I wanna be a role model
But I’m only human

Demi Lovato has been hospitalised: Signs of trouble

Fans have noticed signs of her relapse as early as last month, when she cancelled a show at London’s O2 Arena just hours before the concert. And just days before suffering the overdose, she forgot the lyrics of “Sober” during a performance at the California Mid-State Fair.

Just before her overdose, Lovato was “out Monday night celebrating a friend’s birthday in West Hollywood”, sharing photos of the fun evening on her private Instagram.

In the YouTube documentary Simply Complicated, Lovato admitted that she first tried cocaine at 17, when she was shooting the Disney show Sonny with a Chance.

“My first time doing coke I was 17, working on Disney Channel, and I was with a couple friends and they introduced me to it,” she recounted. “I was scared because my mom always told me your heart could just burst if you do it. But I did it anyways and I loved it.”

She also opened up about growing up with depression and the relief she felt after she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. “In a way, I knew that it wasn’t my fault anymore,” she said. “Something was actually off with me.”

Lovato has also struggled with an eating disorder and self-harm. She says she was able to get sober thanks to the support of the people around her. “You have to surrender, because that is when the change is going to happen.”

An insider told E! News that Lovato decided to be transparent with her relapse to “inspire fans” and “help keep her on track”, but kept using drugs heavily while isolating herself from close friends and family.

“Demi has been suffering her addiction disease for months now and has been spiralling,” one insider said. While on her international Tell Me You Love Me tour, Lovato tried to keep herself busy, but she still had her bad days.

“She has had really good days where she is perfectly OK and on track and really bad days where her team and friends have been very concerned,” the source continued. “She has distanced herself from many important people in her life and even let go of a few people on her team. Everyone has been urging her to get help with her life coach, and to seek treatment again, but Demi thought she could handle it on her own. Demi recently has wanted to be more social and out in about, and has been privately partying more with friends.”

We hope that Demi recovers soon and gets the help she needs.
