She’s so lucky, she’s a star, and she's got her own musical.

It was bound to happen — the Princess of Pop is getting a musical, and our '90s kid hearts are more than ready for the Britney Spears musical.

Called Once Upon a One More Time, the musical won't be about the iconic pop star's life, but will be a feminist, fairytale romp. From the press release:

"When Cinderella, Snow White, and other fairytale princesses gather for their book club, a rogue fairy godmother drops The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps, spurring a royal revelation: Could there really be more to life than bird-made dresses and true love’s kiss? ...Once Upon a One More Time is an uproarious, irreverent look at the towering challenges, charms, and choices involved in finding that most elusive of endings: Happily Ever After."

Fairytales, theatre, feminism, and 90s pop? Color us intrigued.

Once Upon a One More Time will begin previews and a limited run in Chicago this October 29 before moving on to New York.

The Britney Spears musical will fill in the slot that was originally slated for Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, a musical about Michael Jackson. The Michael Jackson musical auditions were canceled due to a labor dispute with actors. (After the show was canceled, the controversial HBO documentary on Jacksons' alleged pedophilia came out, but its producers still say that they're hoping to bring the musical straight to Broadway in 2020.)

The musical will feature Spears' hit songs and an original book by Jon Hartmere (The Upside, bare) and will be directed by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages). And as is expected with a Britney Spears musical, the production will feature kick-ass choreography from no less than MTV VMA nominees Keone & Mari Madrid (Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself"; World of Dance).

"I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore," says Spears. "This is a dream come true for me!"

"Throughout her career, Britney has captivated fans across the globe with her singular brand of energy and resilience," theatre owner James L. Nederlander says. "For three years, we have been working closely with her to develop a concept that perfectly encapsulates her unique spirit, and are so thrilled to finally bring this joyous and electrifying show to the stage."
